cephalic intestinal portal, junction of foregut and midgut, left sinus venosus, notochord, occipital neural crest, pericardioperitoneal canal (pleural cavity), region of hepatic diverticulum, rhombencephalon (postotic), right horn of sinus venosus, septum transversum, sinu-atrial orifice, somite 2 (O-2), umbilical vesicle cavity

A section through somite 2, the sinus venosus and the fore- and midgut junction.

Observe:
1. The anterior intestinal portal at the junction of the foregut and midgut.
2. The middle of the septum transversum where the hepatic diverticulum is about to form.
3. The sinoatrial orifice.
4. The pericardioperitoneal canal on each side of the gut which connects the pericardial cavity in Section 9 with the coelomic cavity in Figure 4–8, Section 14.
5. A few neural crest cells in the future occipital region.
