cephalic edge of somite 4 (O-4), cut edge of amnion, cut edge of umbilical vesicle, left umbilical vein, left vitelline (omphalomesenteric) vein, neural tube (transition region), notochord, occipital neural crest, pericardioperitoneal canal (pleural cavity), pronephric rudiment, right umbilical vein, right vitelline (omphalomesenteric) vein

A section through somite 4.

Observe:
1. The vitelline veins on the lateral wall of the yolk sac.
2. The large umbilical veins lateral to the pericardioperitoneal canal.
3. A pronephric rudiment between the coelomic duct and the somite.
4. The close association between the neural crest cells and the cells of the somite.
