arachnoid trabeculae in subarachnoid space, cerebral hemisphere (occipital lobe area), collicular ridge (tectum), dura mater, ependymal layer, ependymal zone, habenular commissure area, lateral ventricle, mantle layer, mantle zone, marginal layer, marginal sinus, marginal zone, mesencephalic arteries in pia mater, mesencephalic venous plexus, mesencephalon, mesocoele (midbrain ventricle), neopallial cortex, osteogenic layer, pineal bud, roof of diencephalon (epithalamus), superior sagittal sinus

A section through the cerebral hemispheres (occipital lobe area), the roof of the diencephalon and the tectum of the mesencephalon.

Observe:
1. The three zones of the cerebral hemisphere (neopallial cortex) and the tectum (collicular ridge) of the mesencephalon.
2. Some of the components of the epithalamus of the diencephalon.
3. The venous sinuses and plexus between the dura mater and the osteogenic layer.
4. The small arteries coursing in the pia mater adjacent to the surface of the mesencephalon.
5. The arachnoid trabeculae in the subarachnoid space where the cerebrospinal fluid circulates.
