Detail of mitochondrion in a 7-cell embryo

Very high power TEM of a section of a blastomere of a stage 2, 7-cell embryo in vivo (original magnification x40,000). The mitochondrion (M) has perpendicular cristae and is closely related to small vesicles (V) of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
