Progression of the humerus spanning two days

A progression of the stage 20 humerus spanning two days. The outlines were obtained by combining projections of serial sections. Discrepancies in size among those of the same developmental level are due in most cases to differences in shrinkage of embryos or to differences in plane of section resulting in unusual foreshortening. The growth center is represented by grey stippling. The number below each illustration indicates the specific specimen number.
