Cytoplasmic inclusions in an epiblast cell

TEM of cytoplasmic inclusions in an epiblast cell of a stage 3 embryo in vitro, 145-170 hours post-insemination (original magnification x9,000). The cytoplasm contains residual bodies (RB) and crystalline inclusions (CI). In some embryos the contents of the residual bodies are found in the blastocystic cavity (blastocoele). Polymorphic electron dense material and autophagic vacuoles can also be found.
