Cross-sectional view of embryo

An inner or cross-sectional view of the embryo viewed from slightly below the endometrial surface. The epithelium of the latter is represented as a distinct, striated, wavy band. The altered character of the epithelium in contact with the embryo is shown by the individual wavy striations. The embryo presents an uneven surface to the endometrium, and has already surrounded a small capillary sinusoid—an infrequent occurrence at this stage of development.
