Drawing of reconstructed embryo

A drawing of the other half of the reconstructed embryo viewed from its external aspect. Note the irregular contour of the embryo, due to the tongues of syncytiotrophoblast invading the surrounding endometrium. The shadow of the germ disk is faintly seen within the embryo. Note the relatively prominent endometrial sinusoids, which however actually contain very little blood.
