aortic arch 3, cephalic edge of hypophseal pouch (Rathke), closing membrane, cranial edge of notochord, dorsal aorta, hypoglossal nerve (XII), internal carotid artery, junction of rhombencephalon and spinal cord, mesencephalon (midbrain), mesocoele (midbrain ventricle), notochord, occipital myotome, pharyngeal arch 2, pharyngeal groove 2, pharyngeal pouch 1, pharyngeal pouch 2, precardinal vein, primitive pharynx, vagal preganglion (CN X)

A section through the junctions of the rhombencephalon with the spinal cord and the mesencephalon with the prosencephalon.

Observe:
1. The branchial arches and the closing membranes separating the pouches from the grooves.
2. The cranial end of the notochord at the hypophyseal pouch with the internal carotid arteries lateral.
3. The junction of the large third aortic arch with the dorsal aorta.
4. The close relation of the spinal accessory nerve to the precardinal vein.
5. The paired dorsal aortas on each side of the primitive pharynx.
